Join us for a morning planting up the new pond in Wellow Brook Walk. Learn more about pond plants and help wildlife thrive here
Join us as we plant up the brand new pond at Wellow Brook Walk. This is a great opportunity to get involved, meet others, and help create a thriving habitat for local wildlife.
📅 Date & Time: 20/06/2026 10:00am – 12:00 noon
📍 Location: Wellow Brook Walk
During the session, we’ll be planting native aquatic and marginal plants that will support a wide range of wildlife. Ponds are vital habitats—providing food, shelter, and breeding spaces for amphibians, insects, birds, and more. By helping to establish this pond, you’ll be contributing directly to improving biodiversity in the Somer Valley.
No experience is needed—our volunteer leader will guide you through the tasks, and all tools will be provided. Just bring suitable outdoor clothing and enthusiasm!
We’ll stop for a tea break at the end of the session, 12 noon, we invite everyone to stay for an optional informal chat and debrief to reflect on the session and share ideas.
Children are welcome at this session but must be supervised by a parent or guardian at ALL times. The supervising adult remains responsible for their child’s safety and behaviour throughout. We’ll do our best to include child-friendly tasks where possible, but some activities and tools may not be suitable for younger participants.
This activity is organised by our new roving Friends of Somer Valley group, bringing people together to care for green spaces across the valley. We’re supported by Midsomer Norton Town Council, Radstock Town Council, and Westfield Parish Council.
